Travel and learn about Alaska with other like-minded classroom educators from across the country, while sharing amazing one-of-a-kind experiences.  Like viewing icebergs calve from tidewater glaciers, witnessing humpback whales feeding on summertime krill, and taking part in a wildlife safari in Denali National Park.

The Adventure is cross-disciplinary, and designed for educators of all backgrounds and grade levels.  You'll have the chance to network, make new friendships, and compare and develop curriculum materials.  You'll also gain cutting edge environmental knowledge so important for the future of education.

Activities in Brief:

  • View the snow-clad peak of North America's highest mountain, Denali and discover the wondrous tundra ecosystem
  • Take part in a wildlife safari in Denali National Park, home to grizzly, caribou, Dall sheep, wolves and moose Tidewater Glacier
  • Step onto a moving glacier and stand on ice deposited thousands of years ago
  • Meet native Alaskans and learn about Alaskan cultures at a living history heritage center in Anchorage
  • Board the Alaska Railroad for a spectacular journey though thick forests and mountain ranges
  • Visit the seaside city of Seward, then hop on board a cruise to Kenai Fjords National Park's wonderland of calving tidewater glaciers, whales, grizzly, and sea otters.

 

Trip Details: $2450 All Inclusive Tuition*

Day 1 Arrival in Anchorage, and tour the city.  Meet our guides and settle into our hotel with an evening reception.

Day 2 We visit the Alaska Native Heritage Center to explore unique cultures of the North, then journey north through spectacular forests.  Overnight at Talkeetna, gateway to Denali National Park.

Day 3 We arrive at Denali National Park, and get our first views of 20,320 foot Mt. McKinley (Denali).  Viewing of moose, grizzly, caribou and Dall sheep. 

Day 4 Morning wildlife viewing, hikes and discussions continue.  Keep the camera handy! This afternoon we board the Alaska Railroad for a once in a lifetime journey back to Anchorage.

Day 5 We journey south through the Chugach National Forest to Seward, gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park.  We walk the picturesque downtown, learn about native Alaskan culture, and visit the SeaLife Center.

Day 6 Glaciers, grizzly, sea otters and whales are on tap today, as we board an all day cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park.  We view tidewater glaciers, see whales feeding, and have lunch at Fox Island.

Day 7 Outside Anchorage we visit the receding Portage Glacier, and walk on the ice at nearby Byron Glacier.  Evening farewell to Alaska party.

Day 8 Shopping, free time and a possible visit to the Alaska Wildlife Center highlight our final day, before we catch our flight home.
