To visit Belize is to step into a world of Howler monkeys, ancient ruins evoking Indiana Jones, and pristine tropical jungles.  Rich in history, rare and exotic ecosystems and endangered animals, Belize is an amazing classroom for every interest.  Our Adventure takes us snorkeling coral reefs, hiking the steps of Mayan temples and into jungle preserves that are home to monkeys, jaguar, and exotic birds like the macaw.  We also discover the living culture of the native people of Belize.

Adventure Highlights

  • Put on snorkel and fins to explore an offshore coral reef brimming with tropical fish species

  • Tube down a tropical river, surrounded by exotic jungle creatures

  • Visit Dangriga, home to the Garifuna people, and learn about their culture while enjoying music and dance

Trip Details:
Day 1 Arrival in Belize City, visit the Belize Zoo to view jaguars and other native species, and transfer to the Cayo District

Day 2 Visit the Mayan ruins at Caracol, deep in the jungle.  Journey into Mountain Pine Ridge Preserve, with swimming at Big Rock Falls, wildlife viewing and jungle swings.

Day 3 Enter jungle caves used by the Mayans for ritual prayer and sacrifice.  Then take to kayaks for wildlife viewing along a tropical river teeming with exotic animals.

Day 4 Today we transfer to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, which protects the tropical jaguar and Scarlew Macaw.  Afternoon and evening hikes to view wildlife, then dinner in a Mayan village.

Day 5 This day is spent with the Garifuna, a native tribe of Belize.  We mingle with people at Dangriga, discovering their culture, trying their foods, and enjoying music and dance.  Afternoon transfer to Tobacco Caye.

Day 6 At Tobacco Caye, we snorkel along some of the planet's most unspoiled coral reefs.  Our guides describe the fragile reef ecosystem and the amazing variety of fish species.

Day 7 More ocean and reef activities, including a planned kayak adventure along the reefs and the ocean shoreline.

Day 8 We transer by boat from Tobacco Caye to Dangriga, then onward to Belize City for our flight home.
