Yosemite and Monterey Adventure Day by Day Highlights

Day 1 Arrival San Francisco

On this arrival day, groups are picked up at San Francisco and enjoy lunch enroute to Monterey. This afternoon we enjoy a special program at the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Overnight in Monterey.

Day 2 Kayaking Monterey Bay and on to Yosemite

After breakfast we set out for Cannery Row, where we get ready for an amazing kayaking adventure on the placid waters of Monterey Bay.  Paddling with our guides in a majestic kelp forest, we encounter seals, sea otters and other amazing Pacific Ocean creatures.  There is time for some browsing along Cannery Row, made famous by John Steinbeck, before departing for Yosemite where we check in this evening at the Yosemite Institute.

Day 3 Yosemite - Yosemite Valley with experts

From spectacular Yosemite Falls to towering Half Dome, this day is filled with a multitude of natural wonders.  We hike to the base of Yosemite Falls, 2425 feet high, to discover how it was formed, and view nearby Bridalveil Falls and the Merced River.  With our Yosemite Institute guides, we begin to understand the amazing natural history, ecology and human history of America's most beloved National Park.

Day 4 Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome - The World's Greatest View

Today a challenge hike up Sentinel Dome is rewarded with views in every direction, from the crest of the Sierra, to Half Dome, Yosemite Falls and the Valley far below.  We learn about mountain forest ecosystems, how glaciers carved Yosemite Valley and created Half Dome and other world famous features. Not far away we stand atop Glacier Point, where we enjoy what many have called the "world's most awe-inspiring view".  At 3200 feet above Yosemite Valley, we gaze at the once-in-a-lifetime sights while discussing the natural and historic features of the park.

Day 5 Sequoia Giants, and the High Sierra at Tuolumne Meadows

Yosemite is home to three groves of Giant Sequoias, the largest and among the oldest living things on earth.  Today we visit the Tuolumne Grove, where we stand in awe while our guides explain how they grow, and why they are unique in all the world.  Some of the trees approach or exceed 3000 years of age.  From the Forest of Giants, we continue on to Tuolumne Meadows, heart of Yosemite, where we see first-hand how glaciers sculpted the amazing High Sierra.  This afternoon, we go on an exhilarating hike up Lembert Dome...for a view of the Meadows and the Yosemite High Country few others ever witness.

Day 6 Yosemite to San Francisco - Cruising the City by the Bay

Departing Yosemite early, we arrive in San Francisco, a city rich in scenery and history. We visit world famous Fisherman's Wharf, view the sea lions at Pier 39, and jump on a tour boat to cruise under the Golden Gate Bridge, and past famous Alcatraz Island.  This evening, we will have a final night party at the Hard Rock Cafe at Fisherman's Wharf, and may be able to visit Lombard Street, the "crooked-est street in the world."
