Getting Started - Spread the Word

Once you decide on an Adventure, and register, it's time to publicize it.  The process is really quite simple and can be a lot of fun as well.

To start, hand out trip flyers that you can print online, or have families print out their own.  Then, if you'd like, put an announcement in the school newspaper or weekly packet, and pick a date for an introductory meeting to generate excitement.  You can also send families to this website so they can check out the trip photo albums, maps and Adventure itineraries online.

Once you register we'll send along a Leader Kit which provides everything you need, from brochures, newsletters and Adventure itineraries, to DVDs, PowerPoint presentations, wall posters and more. Put up posters in your classroom and in your school, and get some of your most excited students and fellow teachers to help spread the word.  Remember, on Earth Explore you can travel with a friend or colleague so you might already have a fellow teacher in mind to help generate excitement.

What about an informational meeting?

Think about holding a meeting to stir interest in your upcoming class trip.  The earlier you hold the meeting the better.   That way interested students have more time for fundraising to help pay for their educational adventure, and you can hold other meetings to keep excitement high.  For large pre-organized school meetings, an Earth Explore representative may be available to attend and assist in the presentation.

Is Fundraising an Option? Yes!

At Earth Explore we believe fundraising can be a rewarding and useful activity for motivated students.  We provide extensive information and advice on activities which can be done individually by the student, or jointly by the group.  Our fundraising materials can be found on our website under applications and pdfs, and are also provided on a CD in the Leader Kit for distribution to interested families.

What about parent questions I can't answer?

A parent meeting showcases the educational value of your adventure, and explains the planning process, credit options, and logistics.  Our Adventure Consultants will get all of the necessary information to you, and talk to you about how to answer questions.  They'll also provide a Leader Handbook which is a great resource for answering questions.  Of course, if parents have questions you still can't answer, ask them to call Earth Explore toll free, and we'll provide detailed information.
